Award winning Blog!

A medal for turning up at a regatta but not actually entering a race was not the only thing won around here over the last few days.

The top person's sailing Blog Propercourse
has voted TRDOWM's Hickling Broad Regatta post (see below) as it's best regatta blog post of 2009!

I'm not sure what we win and I'll be looking for the invitation to the glitzy awards ceremony in the post (once the postal strike is over of course). This award means a great deal to all of us here at Mondale House as it's voted for by the listening public and record buyers and not the record company fatcats.

Thank you, and thanks to Jamie, Will and Sim for making the weekend such fun.

Brushing teeth

Ah, the mac was slow and grumpy.
Things were getting lost and awkward.
I emailed the mac man.
He emailed back, swiftly and politely.
Then.
Frau Random Doubt found 4567 pictures in our iphoto trashcan.

It's like we've brushed the 'puter's teeth.
Things happen when you want them to.

This blog

A friend asked me the other day "what's your blog about? What's it like?"

It's always nice to stop and think about what you do (as opposed to blindly crashing through life which is often my preferred method of cultural navigation).

I thought for a moment.

"I guess it's a bit like a smalltown newspaper, I'm the editor and writer and reporter and tea boy. All the news is of interest to me and perhaps a dozen or so others who read regularly. In some respects I am living off the glories of a couple of older posts which still google well and draw in a crowd of passers by who might pick up a copy, use the small ads section and never bother to read any further. Alot of the news is about me".

Blogging verses the other stuff.

I get the feeling that blogging is becoming slightly old fashioned and mildly tweedy and nerdy.
I like it like that.
I like it more than anything else on the internet.
I'm just sorry that life is a bit busy right now and that the blogging is slow.

Emily Fabpants

I used to sail with Emily. Years and years ago, for years and years.
She still defies explanation, interpretation, catagorisation but does not defy friendship and good beer.
She has a blog!
Hooray for blogs nouveau!

"Even when the darkest clouds are in the sky"

Dark clouds literally (it is November in Norfolk, big skies=much cloud, much of 'em frightfully dark and often wet)
Dark clouds metaphorically (what exactly will we do next summer without Euro08 to enjoy?)

"You mus'nt cry and you mus'nt sigh"

Old chums lighten your load with fantastic new blogs!Mayor Johnsen (husband of Lisa at Onegoodcook and a drummer by trade). Looking forward to as many blog related good times as we've had real ones! (This guy knows everyone, he's like that).

"spread a little happiness as time goes by".

I seem to collect drummers.

Blog pics

I was curiously looking at possible new images for the blog icon. These two came into contention but only for a moment.

enjoy.

Thank you Mr former Vice President.

And by that I mean Nobel winner Mr Al Gore. After all, he invented the internet (oh lord I'm shaking, it's so good to be out of the early 1990's hellhole that was NO INTERNET CONNECTION).

WE ARE BACK!

We can look for a replacement fireplace online, no need to trapse around shops with a baby.

We can check the weather rather than rely on BBC weather reports which inform us daily "Today will be a lot like yesterday".

We can look at blogs and blog and fantasize about vacations and things that we would like to buy online and then not buy them but just investigate cheap flights anyway.

Oh goodness and so much more!!

Watch this space,

MONDALE IS BACK!!!!!

Hey, here's a picture of a quiet backstreet in my hometown.

Hello again.

I've noticed that it's been a horribly long time since I last posted. I will get over that and soon begin posting again and writing posts about matters other than lack of postings.

Backyard blogging

Just discovered that this corner of Long Island suburbia is a wireless hotspot!
There may be some blogging after all.

July

I'm taking the month off.
The reason is very simple. We are of no fixed abode until early August, limited internet access and therefore limited blogging rights.
Apologies in advance, oh loyal reader.

Yet another blog.

Following the demise of Blighty Blog and all that peace stuff in Ulster I thought I'd link to a real life Irish blog.

I give you!

The arse end of Ireland.

I know I'm behind the times ( in fact as any one who knows me will relate, I still think it's 1962).
But along with the baby we got ourselves that dvr thingy! Yeah!! TV revolution here we come!

Hence Baghdad Burning.

Breaking news!

Firstly, he's been away for almost a year (and god knows he may stop at any moment) But one of my 'finds' of the blogosphere 'Blighty Blog' is back. Check below for a link.
(but between you and me, he's not as funny as he used to be)

God I'm getting so old fashioned about these links.

Next Friday, October 6th I take on the challenge of my boss in a public conker fight.

Last year I won.
(Thanks to Listmaker for the pics)

Proper Course.

I found a sailing blog that is not only rather good in it's own way but also links to several thousand gazillion other sailing blogs.
I just wish Theta Club would establish a blog. Although on second thoughts it's probably best that they remain as secretive as possible.
You can check the link at the bottom.
(I guess I could have just emailed Weasel and been done with it).
